Did you know that Hernando Corteś completely killed and destroyed the Aztec people? Or did you know that Francisco Pizarro fought and killed the Incas with guns and greed? Well if you didn't, you should really read this blog. The fifth grade are doing a HUGE project on European explorers which was inspired by a teacher that wants to teach Spanish, named Nicole. We're making trading cards based on our explorers. Have you ever gotten a baseball card? Well on the front of the card is the picture of the player and his name, and on the back is all his information of his home runs, hits per season, and more. So if you had a David Ortiz card, it would have his picture, name and nickname on the front and on the back, all of his stats.
On the " Explorer Cards " , it shows our explorers, their names, their nicknames and the routes they had when they travelled. On the back is the important information like the birth date and death date, who he sailed for and home country, his greatest accomplishments and why he is so famous. We're getting all our information from the school's library's encyclopedias and informational books, Explorer Jeopardy, Movies and videos that have lots of information about our explorers. Also, Ms. Crowell has found different websites that teach us about the explorers from Europe. Learning about explorers is awesome and teaches us great facts and stories!
