On September 23, a terrific Tuesday morning, fifth grade was on an adventure for an apple. We ventured out of the 5th grade classrooms and out to the flag pole to meet Mrs. Sulmasy and the Green Team. Mrs. Sulmasy directed us to pick up all the half eaten, bitten into, rotted apples, GROSS!!!!! I think that the whole 5th grade picked up around 60 to 75 apples. Wow! Mrs. Sulmasy said that all the apples were up and off the ground. She announced that we needed to start picking apples. The Green Team set up ladders and had strange poles that had a basket and some sort of claw at the top to grab the apple. The pole could separate into two pieces and be tall or short. That apple picker was a great invention. The ladder made people look 10 feet taller. It was amazing for 15 minutes then the rest was plain old... AWESOMENESS!!!!! After we picked almost all of the apples the Green Team told us that all of these apples were going to be used to make apple sauce for grades K through 8. At lunch the next day the Green Team told us that they made 13 gallons of apple sauce from two 8 gallon buckets. The apple sauce was BOSS!!!!!!!!!
