Have you ever made up a holiday? We did! Our teachers (Ms.Crowell and Mrs.Prunier) created Owl Day! Owl Day is about none other than...well, owls. On Owl day we studied types of owls, owl calls, and we even watched a movie on them! Now let’s get to the fun stuff. At the beginning of the day we learned about owls, as you probably guessed. The best part of our morning was the owl myths. Our teachers split us into groups and gave each group one myth about owls. We had to draw two pictures and write at least one paragraph that proves the myth wrong. One of the myths was that owls can turn their heads 360 degrees around. This is untrue, although they can turn it pretty far! Did you know that owls can dig burrows? Well we found out while watching the movie Hoot! The movie is about a group of three kids who are trying to save these burrowing owls from construction. Everyone enjoyed the movie and had fun learning about the owls. Here comes the final and most exciting part of the day. Earlier in the month we made owl masks. Time to put those masks to use. We wore them during the costume parade in the hallways. We watched K-3 (kindergarten through third grade) parade through the halls in cool Halloween costumes! After the parade we finished watching the movie and had tasty snacks. Owl day was very fun, we learned tons of new facts and will remember Owl Day all year! |
